One of the key questions about the Malagasy football federation is why it is not competing in the 2018-19 Europa League.
Malagasi clubs in the first division have traditionally been relegated, with the last of their top flight status to be assured in 2020-21, and the Maligas are expected to suffer the same fate in the next season of the Europa league.
“It is a very serious issue for the Malagi football community,” said the head of Malagasis football association, Vida.
“The federation is committed to the idea of football in Malagases country, but this is not an issue that we are able to resolve.
I do not know the specific reason, but it could be the federation is too small.
There is no money to fund it.”
The Malagascan federation also has a history of not participating in the competition.
It was dissolved in 2005 and has not hosted a match since, despite hosting matches in the 2010-11 and 2014-15 seasons.
“There is a lot of frustration from the Malaginas community because it has not been part of the last four years,” said Vida, “but I am confident that Malagasia will be able to make a move.”
